IOWA VERSUS THE REST OF US

There's been some news about some GOP candidates downplaying the Iowa straw poll forcing "Gov. Terry Branstad of Iowa, a Republican, to come to the defense of the state as a “full spectrum” testing ground for the party’s presidential hopefuls."

Iowa is an outlier among the states in many respects.  Perhaps the most politically relevant one is the percentage of Hispanics.  According to the 2010 Census, Iowa's population is 5% Hispanic but the country as a whole is 16.35% Hispanic.
