Nicholas Kristof of the NY Times points out that the military has large socialist components because it is one of our institutions that "emphasizes universal health care and educational opportunity, one that seeks to curb income inequality." Kristof suggests that American society as a whole should adopt these socialist components.
Unsuprisingly, this article has enraged Mark Levin and other wingnut wackos but another lesson to be drawn from the article is that socialism does not lead to the destruction of the human spirit, as many conservatives claim.
