AUSTIN — Several Texans expressed concerns Thursday that religious overtones would end up in new science materials for public school students, but a unanimous State Board of Education tentatively voted for conventional science.
"Someone might want to refund their tickets, because there wasn't a fight," David Bradley, R-Beaumont, said after the decisive vote — rare for a board that routinely has split along ideological lines in recent years.
But bigger concern about the board diluting the teaching of evolution didn't materialize.
"It wasn't a factor. Sorry. No story," said Barbara Cargill, R-The Woodlands, who presided over her first meeting as board chairwoman.

THE FUNDIES LOSE ANOTHER ONE
AND IN TEXAS, TOO! I wonder if Gov. "Secede" Perry will have anything to say about this?

I don't oppose this from the same perspective as you. I oppose the anti-Darwinian "Biblical literalist/ young Earth" perspective which handicaps legitimate grievances about Darwinianism by juxtaposing them with stilted Biblicism (itself ultimately anti-Biblical.)
