AN ECONOMIC ANECDOTE

I was part of the clean-up crew for a 3 day street festival in Rochester, NY YEARS ago and I remember walking into one of the little grocery stores to get a soda. The normal price was 41 but because of the crowds, the store was charging $2. I managed to convince the clerk that because I was one of the festival workers, I should only pay the normal price. Now, I'm sure a lot of people have had a similar experience and that leads me to wonder why so many think the Free Market Fairy is NOT to be questioned.

There is enough sentiment against this kind of behavior to beget anti-gouging laws (see here and here) so why all the fuss about Dodd-Frank?
