PARANOIA AS A PARTY PLATFORM

The wingers are straight out of some political version of Coast to Coast AM, broadcast in the Twilight Zone.  Today I heard Glenda Beck claim that Pres. Obama/George Soros are out to get the Vatican and that kind of weirdness helped me recall another "little known" plot, Matt Drudge's support for candidate Obama in 2008.

"What's undeniable, though, and what we can never forget is that our forces are making very real progress dismantling Al Qaida, breaking the Taliban's momentum, and training Afghan forces so that they can take the lead and our troops can come home."

This however is as much a lie as anything Bush told re Iraq. Not paranoia, just a fact.

Afghan is my 2nd biggest disappointment with the Obama Administration. The first is his extention of the Bush National Security State.

If he was still in Congress and Bush or Romney was conducting the same Afghan policy, he would be attacking it as funding a corrupt Karzai and chasing an already vanished Al Qaeda. The part about breaking the Taliban's momentum, heck AJ Strata can tell a better but more plausible lie than that.

You might have heard, yesterday a "scandalous" email leak broke regarding Syria's Bashir Assad and his supposedly purposely promising his people reforms he had no intention of carrying out and the emails supposedly showing he was completely out of touch and not caring that he was out of touch with both his citizens and
his own forces carrying out mass killings.

If all the leaks are true, I see little difference in what they represent and in what Obama's Afghan speech represents vis a vis the American citizenry, i.e. willingness to lie and an apparent assumption that Americans won't notice or care.

I simply do not believe Obama believed what he was telling Americans yesterday, period.
