But if they manage to attach themselves to Fats Limbaugh, they will have done some good.

John Mainelli – “I think Rush is in real danger of being tossed off terrestrial radio.”
The talk radio consultant and former major-market programmer says “There are several reasons, and most of them didn't even exist when I brought Rush Limbaugh to WABC, New York in 1988. (1) Clear Channel is so big that no one person is indispensable. (2) CC and other (too-big) corporations are increasingly sensitive to PC/pressure group attacks, and free-speech defenders like Mel Karmazin and Randy Michaels aren't doing terrestrial talk anymore. (3) The pressure groups are bigger and much more aggressive, and they can mobilize troops immediately via several online modes. (4) Media Matters and others were relentless in chasing advertisers away from Glenn Beck, and I believe Rush's long-simmering enemies will be relentless in harassing returning and new sponsors for as long as he's on the air. (5) Rush's ratings are considerably lower and older than at his peak, and Premiere's fat cash fees are harder to take because of that, the economy and the recent PR grief. And (6) Many station groups are now, amazingly, more concerned about expenses than ratings.”
