I took an online poll yesterday and one question was something like "What do you think is America's single biggest problem?".   There the usual choices plus "OTHER," for which you were allowed to write-in a response.  I chose "GOP" and I am not an outlier:

Two leading political scholars — representing the conservative American Enterprise Institute and the centrist Brookings Institution – have published a must-read article, “Let’s just say it: The Republicans are the problem.”

"The GOP has become an insurgent outlier in American politics. It is ideologically extreme; scornful of compromise; unmoved by conventional understanding of facts, evidence and science; and dismissive of the legitimacy of its political opposition."

So far, this article hasn't gotten anywhere near the circulation it deserves.
