A SENSE OF RELIEF

The last couple of weeks have convinced me that Mitten$ is unlikely to beat Pres. Obama and aside from the obvious good things that means, it also means that after the election, we should be pressing Obama to rein in the national security state.

I would like to see action in several areas:
1) The detention of American citizens and others using the dubious rationale that they are material witnesses.  Digby has a great example and I've written about the massive denial of civil liberties in the months after 9/11/2011.

2) The overuse of National Security Letters.

3) The overuse of drone strikes in Pakistan and elsewhere.

4) The abuse of warrantless wiretapping.
