Mitt Romney has once again failed to convince that he's NOT some sort of unfeeling mechanical device by stating he would eliminate funding for PBS, e.g., Big Bird. According to Lori Rackl at the Chicago Sun-Times, (h/t Georgia Logothetis), PBS got $455 million year.
On the other hand, Mitten$ wants to re-start production of the troubled F-22, which initially will cost close to $1 Billion, exclusive of the cost of the plane. The latter ranges from $137 Million unit cost to as much as $687 million for the life-time cost. So, merely to re-start production equals about 2 years funding for PBS and each additional plane will have a total lifetime cost of about 1.5 years of PBS funding.
