FBI BACKGROUND CHECKS FOR GUN PURCHASES

Last night, John Lott was on Billy Cunningham's radio show and said that 99.80% of inittial denials are reversed.  I went to the FBI site and Lott as usual is terribly mistaken.  For example, in the year 2011, "Denials issued by the NICS Section in 2011 totaled 78,211".  There is an appeal process and in 2011, "n 2011, the NICS Section received a total of 17,203 VAF applications and appeal requests."  Now, of those, only a small fraction were overturned:
In 2011, the NICS Section’s research resulted in the overturn of 3,236 deny transactions.
So, only 18.8% of appeals are approved and only 22% of initial denials were appealed.
