I AM A LITTLE MORE HOPEFUL

(h/t Avedon)

Ian Welsh makes a pretty good point:
In simple terms: the US military, the most expensive, most powerful military in the world, lost in Iraq (they had to pay bribes to leave). They are losing in Afghanistan.
One quibble: We lost Afghanistan when we didn't seal off Tora Bora back in 2001.

I hope these failures will cause most American people back off from their need to have the "best military in the world."

If I'm not mistaken, according to reports Biden urged Obama to get out of Afghan promptly on taking office. O rejected this, you don't have to return Peace Prizes, and he had some imperialist warmongers to appease.

If so, Biden was correct.
