HuffPo had this amazing visualization of 1/2 second of trading in Johnson & Johnson by high-frequency traders...


Here's a nice summary of the previous work on this capitalist problem and here's one possible solution: use supercomputers made for scientific work to act as regulators of high frequency traders.
