I THOUGHT A FEW DAYS AGO THAT...

the Syrian civil war resembles the Spanish Civil War because there is no "good side."***  I also thought that maybe we should give Assad a little help as long as he's fighting Al Qaeda-type terrorists.  Now that (h/t Atriossome of the neo-cons who were behind our disastrous invasion of Iraq want us to punish Assad, I'm more convinced that we should help him.

 ***I could be convinced that the anarchists on the Republican side were in fact "good"

The US government is not going to be helping Assad (even though he helped us render jihadists flowing around his environs related to the Iraq War)unless he cuts ties with Hezbollah and Iran.
This because in the assessment of Israel's elite, Hezbollah, Syria and Iran are worse threats than independent takfiris at the present.
