IS THIS POSSIBLE?

In return for dismantling most of the welfare state, would conservatives support a guaranteed annual income?  Maybe so, according to Ezra Klein and Knowmore:
But many libertarians, including The Bell Curve author Charles Murray and Guy Sorman, like the idea as a way to replace the welfare state. In fact, the FairTax plan — which would replace most federal taxes with a sales tax and is backed by 73 members of the house and 8 members of the Senate (all Republicans) — includes a small basic income.

The only quibble I have here is the possible mislabeling of people like Murray. If he really opposed the Iraq and Afghan wars, other things being equal, I'd let the "libertarian" label pass.
Otherwise, no way.
Too many war hawks who are otherwise small government types are getting by with this hypocrisy.
