PHYLLIS SCHLAFLY HAS BEEN VIEWED AN EXTREMIST FOR A LONG TIME

In 1967, she ran for the presidency of the National Federation of Republican Women and aside from the Birchers, she had no support.  Even the Goldwater conservatives thought she was an extremist so she lost to Gladys O'Donnell, 1,910 to 1,464.
