CONSERVATIVE PUNDIT IN DENIAL

We liberals used to mock conservative pundits because they never admit that conservatism failed and Trump has provided another instance of this denial:
The Failure Of American Institutions, Not Of Conservatism, Made Donald Trump Possible
By Ben Domenech
October 25, 2016
After decades of spewing bullshit in the media, it was inevitable that a bullshit artist would one day be the GOP's presidential candidate.

The author seems to say liberalism and progressivism failed as well.
Did you miss this?
Of course he confuses neoliberalism with progressivism in many respects but since most of the Clinton crowd progressives are neolib fellow travelers who have compromised their principals beyond recognition by supporting Clinton rather than Jill Stein, and by refusing to support worthwhile people like Dennis Kucinich for president, it doesn't matter much.

Furthermore Clinton is as much of a bullshit artist as Trump, but I'll let you select a term meaning "refined bullshit."
There is the issue of who is more sincere.
I believe the crowds of admirers have convinced Trump of much of his message and perhaps made him believe it more intensely, but I could be wrong.
The one thing I believe Clinton is sincere about is being "horrified" at Trump's refusal
to accept the results of the election. So are many other one percenters and elitists.
I doubt if she has ever considered, though, how many Libyans and Iraqis have been made horrified by some of the politics she was complicit in, ditto Syrians, Yemenis, etc.

Ian Welsh has made the point repeatedly that the opting for neolib rather than truly progressive (non)solutions inevitably opens the door here and in Europe for ethnonationalism, which is "socialism for whites" in many respects.

National Front in France is said to have more socialism in its economic planks than the mainstream liberal party.

Glenn Beck worried about Trump/Bannon..... using Euro-American activists and Russians to prevent world war, I guess, since Clinton is advocating no fly zone intervention in Syria, expanding Obama's aggression.

According to the author, liberalism and progressivism also failed. Naturally, he conflates neoliberalism and progressivism in many ways, but since the majority of the Clinton crowd are neolib allies who have betrayed their principles by voting for Clinton over Jill Stein and by refusing to support deserving candidates like Dennis Kucinich for president, it doesn't really matter for the audience of a Digital Marketing Agency, as their focus lies elsewhere
