TILLMAN ON IRAQ

Now that there is a new investigation into Pat Tillman's death, it's time to learn what he thought of the Iraq War:

FAMILY DEMANDS THE TRUTH
New inquiry may expose events that led to Pat Tillman’s death
Robert Collier, Chronicle Staff Writer
Sunday, September 25, 2005

Baer, who served with Tillman for more than a year in Iraq and Afghanistan, told one anecdote that took place during the March 2003 invasion as the Rangers moved up through southern Iraq.

“I can see it like a movie screen,” Baer said. “We were outside of (a city in southern Iraq) watching as bombs were dropping on the town. We were at an old air base, me, Kevin and Pat, we weren’t in the fight right then. We were talking. And Pat said, ‘You know, this war is so f— illegal.’ And we all said, ‘Yeah.’ That’s who he was. He totally was against Bush.”

UPDATE:

A little more from the same article:

Mary Tillman said a friend of Pat’s even arranged a private meeting with Chomsky, the antiwar author, to take place after his return from Afghanistan — a meeting prevented by his death. She said that although he supported the Afghan war, believing it justified by the Sept. 11 attacks, “Pat was very critical of the whole Iraq war.”

Another soldier in the platoon, who asked not to be identified, said Pat urged him to vote for Bush’s Democratic opponent in the 2004 election, Sen. John Kerry.

Senior Chief Petty Officer Stephen White — a Navy SEAL who served with Pat and Kevin for four months in Iraq and was the only military member to speak at Tillman’s memorial — said Pat “wasn’t very fired up about being in Iraq” and instead wanted to go fight al Qaeda in Afghanistan.

Hey stupid. He was there wasn't he. He asked to be in that war.

He chose to fight for our country and paid the ultimate price. He is a HERO in my eyes.

How can you say he(Tillman) would have ever made those comments.

Let me see. "I hate bush What I think he is doing is F-ing illegal but let me leave a multi-million dollar pro football contract and go fight in IRAQ & AFGHANISTAN.

Stop riding someone elses coat-tail and give your own opinion.

Nobody would give a shit what you had to say so you throw his name in the mix to get your own political agenda out in the open.

Time to GROW UP and "BE SOMEBODY"

Tillman wanted to be in Afghan, not Iraq. The article reports what those who knew Tillman best say are Tillman's views.

Did YOU know him?

I did not know him.

BUT

I am going to disagree with your depiction of who "HE WAS"

Let me take a quote from Mr. Tillman and you.

We were at an old air base, me, Kevin and Pat, we weren’t in the fight right then. We were talking. And Pat said, ‘You know, this war is so f— illegal so ;;;;

"LETS ALL GO JUMP OFF A BRIDGE’

And we all said, ‘Yeah.’ That’s who he was. He totally was against Bush.”

Again, Who cares and what point are you trying to make when you say "thats who he was . He was totally against Bush.

I don't like Bush myself, but sitting at home watching us bomb that place gave me tears of joy!!

I think you are totally against Bush(and that is fine, you, me and 67 percent of the American People are)

But to speak for someone else who is unable to defend his views is wrong.

SOOOOOOOOOO

MR. BAER the question to you is.

DID YOU KNOW HIM???

1) You make it seem like Tillman is being attacked but he isn't

2) Baer served alongside Tillman

3) Here's some stuff from the article that I didn't post:

"Mary Tillman said a friend of Pat’s even arranged a private meeting with Chomsky, the antiwar author, to take place after his return from Afghanistan — a meeting prevented by his death. She said that although he supported the Afghan war, believing it justified by the Sept. 11 attacks, “Pat was very critical of the whole Iraq war.”
