A REASON NOT TO VOTE FOR FRED THOMPSON

"After reading a string of his commentaries, watching his Fox News Sunday interview from a few weeks ago...you can't help but be struck by how much like one of us Fred Thompson sounds."

And he's a solid Pro-Choice Republican. It's been amusing to me to see the Social Cons rally to Fred's side. Are they entirely ignorant of his political background on abortion? Fred was aligned with the libertarians and Moderates in TN GOP politics in the 1990s against the Religious Right.

We libertarian Republicans supported him PRECISELY because he was Pro-Choice.

I've got an interview from July 1994 in REPUBLICAN LIBERTY where he states clearly that he is Pro-Choice. (You can see the excerpt with the quote over at my blog at www.libertarianrepublican.blogspot.com)

I'm very happy with Fred Thompson. If he's the Nominee I'll support him 100%, even though I'm currently supporting Rudy.

Shows how far we've come from the 1980s and '90s when the Religious Right controlled the Party with an Iron Hammer, to 2007 where we have TWO LIBERTARIAN REPUBLICANS AS FRONTRUNNERS FOR THE GOP NOMINATION: Fred & Rudy!!

ERIC,

George Will wrote that Thompson supported the McCain/Feingold bill. How does that strike you?
