"YOU'RE DOING A HECKUVA JOB, BROWNIE"

You might recall that's what Pres. Fredo said to Michael Brown, then head of FEMA, about the Federal governments response to Katrina. This is a symptom of a much larger problem the Bush regime has created: the appointment of hacks and cronies throughout the Federal government. Earlier I noted that they even appointed a veterinarian to head the Office of Women's Health of the Food and Drug Administration but I never gave a link. Thanx to Echidne, I can now:

One week ago, the Office of Women's Health of the Food and Drug Administration sent an e-mail notice to women's groups and others announcing the appointment of Norris Alderson as its new acting director.

An FDA veteran trained in animal husbandry who spent much of his career in the agency's Center for Veterinary Medicine, Alderson quickly became the subject of active and largely negative comment on the Internet and elsewhere.
