ANOTHER FEAR CAMPAIGN

For months, the criminal Bush regime and its allies have been using fear to get its way. DNI McConnell warned that "some Americans are going to die" unless Pres. Fredo gets unlimited eavesdropping powers, Rep. Porter (R-NV) warned that Al Qaeda and Iran would assume even greater power if we didn't continue the failed Iraq policy, and the military in Iraq has been labelling every insurgent a member of Al Qaeda.

The latest fear mongering comes from CIA Director Gen. Hayden, speaking on Friday at the COuncil of Foreign Relations in NYC.

CIA director Michael Hayden warned Friday that Al-Qaeda was plotting fresh attacks on the United States aimed at sowing death and destruction on a massive scale.

"Our analysts assess with high confidence that Al-Qaeda's central leadership is planning high impact plots against the American homeland," Hayden told the Council on Foreign Relations in New York.

"Al-Qaeda is focusing on targets that would produce mass casualties, Dramatic destruction and significant economic aftershocks," he added.

The danger the United States faced, he said, was "more real than anything our citizens at home have confronted since our Civil War."

There are several reasons that these remarks by Hayden aren't news. First, we were told by Gen. Renuart last July that the terrorism threat to the U.S. had increased. Second, the July NIE found that we will face a growing threat from Al Qaeda over the next 3 years. Third, also in July, DHS head Chertoff told us that he had a "gut feeling" that we would be attacked this summer.

The only real point to Hayden's remarks is to scare the American people into supporting the Fiasco in Iraq.
