WHAT THE MOVEMENT CONSERVATIVES WANT

I've thought of them - people like Laura Ingraham and Bill Bennett - as being today's counter-culture and I've found a quote in Chait's book (p. 220) from Paul Weyrich, the creator of the Heritage Foundation and the person who came up with the name "Moral Majority", to back this up.

Weyrich described the goals of the "New Right," as these freakshows were once called:

"We are different from previous generations of conservatives. We are no longer working to preserve the status quo. We are radicals, working to overturn the present power structure of this country."
