THE MAIN CONSERVATIVE MYTH

The main American conservative myth is the existence of a Golden Age in America when things were great. Those conservative who are more influenced by economics have a belief in the ability of the Free Market Fairy to make everything OK. Other conservatives with a more historical view point back to William of Occam as the start of the decline of the West. One thing they all have in common is their decrying of present-day America. Conservatives enjoy a double-standard when they criticize America. When liberals complain, they are often labelled un-American or unpatriotic but conservatives claim to be speaking for the 'True America" or the "Real Americans."
