MAKING IT IN AMERICA

(h/t to Atrios for getting me started on this topic)

The definition of success for those at the top of our society means almost never being held accountable for your mistakes. CEOs who fail miserably usually walk away with 10s of millions in a severance package, journalists who were terribly wrong about Iraq see their careers flourish. Nincompoops can write for our leading newspapers. If you lie well enough, you can have a radio show that's on over 600 stations and if your a little bit less of a liar, it's over 500 stations.

Yet when many conservatives talk about the problems with America, they talk about "moral values" and still speak of "welfare queens" and somehow they often determine the topics of our national discourse.
