HOW'S FREDO'S WOT GOING?

Not so good, according to the State Dept.'s 2007 Country Reports on Terrorism. Here are some excerpts from chapter 1, "Strategic Assessment," about Al Qaeda.

AL-QA’IDA AND ASSOCIATED TRENDS: Al-Qa’ida (AQ) and associated networks remained the greatest terrorist threat to the United States and its partners in 2007. It has reconstituted some of its pre-9/11 operational capabilities through the exploitation of Pakistan’s Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA), replacement of captured or killed operational lieutenants, and the restoration of some central control by its top leadership, in particular Ayman al-Zawahiri.

Despite the efforts of both Afghan and Pakistani security forces, instability, coupled with the Islamabad brokered cease-fire agreement in effect for the first half of 2007 along the Pakistan-Afghanistan frontier, appeared to have provided AQ leadership greater mobility and ability to conduct training and operational planning, particularly that targeting Western Europe and the United States. Numerous senior AQ operatives have been captured or killed, but AQ leaders continued to plot attacks and to cultivate stronger operational connections that radiated outward from Pakistan to affiliates throughout the Middle East, North Africa, and Europe.

International intervention in Iraq continued to be exploited by AQ as a rallying cry for radicalization and terrorist activity, as were other conflicts such as Afghanistan and Sudan. The international community has yet to muster a coordinated and effectively resourced program to counter extremist propaganda.

We have seen a substantial increase in the number of self-identified groups with links (communications, training, and financial) to AQ leadership in Pakistan. These “guerilla” terrorist groups harbor ambitions of a spectacular attack, including acquisition and use of Weapons of Mass Destruction.

You wouldn't know "Al Qaeda" type jihadists killed many dozens at a wedding ceremony in a formerly
"cleansed" area of Iraq yesterday from reading AJ Strata's whitewash today, would you? You wouldn't know, because the attack was too embarrasing for Strata to mention,
having claimed the same for the area, and the practical extinguishing of similar Sunni jihadists for two years.

But you would know, he has help from freaks like "Dale of Atlanta"
in the comments section who will always be around to do their disinformation jobs lying about Saddam's pre-war alignment with "al Qaeda."

from Helene Cobban

"Now, the State Department's National Counter-Terrorism Center has just published its report on how the "Global War on Terror" went in 2007, and once again the picture is sobering."

"...the figures for just those years don't show the size of the contrast between the situation before the US invaded Iraq, and the situation after. Before 2003, the annual global fatalities from terror never exceeded 5,300. In 2004 they climbed just above 6,000; and every year since 2005 they have exceeded 12,000, showing a continuing increase each year. In 2007, the number reached 22,685."

"Whose Credibility Is Shot In The World From The War On Terror? asks Strata.

Yours, AJ.

Excellent posts, Ken. AJ has backed failure for so long that he has become a failure.
