HUGE COMMENT THREAD ON USA TODAY

I don't read USA Today all the time so I can't say that this is the biggest comment thread ever but at 2127, this story - "Gas prices rattle Americans" - it's the biggest I've seen. Perhaps this is a sign that Americans are finally waking up to the fact that we have a real problem here. Well, not all of them. There are still mindless partisan posts like these two:

Vicky stin (compiled from various posts):

Don't tell me you don't believe that Saddam was an evil man????

So you are saying Bill Clinton lying was ok????

What are the folks going to o if a democrat get electe and raises taxes ??? if things are so bad ,how will they make it at all?

And for comic relief,

This whole oil-price bubble is being generated by commodities speculators. Commodity prices are entirly based upon future expectations. The mere announcement of approval to drill in the ANWAR will cause the bubble to burst in an instant. The price of a barrel of oil will fall back to 50$ a barrel in 48 hours. The price of a gallon of gas will be back under $2.00. Solution. Congress grant approval to allow drilling in the ANWAR.
