IDEOLOGY AND INTOLERANCE

Today I heard Michael Medved say "We have to trust the market" and I wonder who the hell believes him? We've seen tremendous amounts of dishonesty and fraud in the last 8 years and we could go back to the late 90s when junk Internet stocks were pushed onto an unsuspecting public. Henry Blodget was an analyst for Merrill Lynch and there was a HUGE difference between what he publicly said about some Internet stocks and what he really believed:
Lifeminders (LFMN)
12/4/00: Merrill Lynch published rating: 2 (accumulate) - 1 (buy)
12/4/00: "I can't believe what a POS [piece of sh-t] that thing is." Merrill Analyst Henry Blodget e-mail.

I've also heard Medved make horrendous personal attacks on liberals, notably John Edwards and he recently made the same kind attack on Al Franken:
While Medved said that “there is no finer senator than Norm Coleman,” he called Al Franken an “emotionally disturbed … liar … lowlife … leftist,” a “disgrace to your state” and the “most despicable and disgraceful candidate ever nominated by a major party for the United States Senate anywhere.” He compared Franken to onetime GOP candidate and neo-Nazi David Duke and called Franken “trash on the ballot.”

Why do the wingnuts avoid the reality of the market and why do they so often demonize their opponents?
