I personally know two adults in Tucson who seem to buy into the movement conservative message. One of them is one Social Security disability, so his resentment of government social programs is puzzling but not uncommon. (I've even had a couple of people on Internet forums try to convince me that Medicare isn't a government program.) The other fellow has a psychological problems, notably ADD, chronic depression and has learning difficulties. Both of them are relatively poorly educated and don't seem to be interested in learning new things. Both are white males, one about 37 and the other about 57, so their views cross generations.
Perhaps "conservative underclass" is a good way to describe them.
