ONE IMPORTANT GOAL: PISS OFF LIBERALS

Atrios has remarked several times that it seems a major goal of conservatives is to piss off liberals and I've come across some conservative commenters who endorse that goal.  Now I find someone with a higher profile in Wingnut World who lays it out for us:

Glenn Beck’s success can easily be measured in how much liberals and old media types hate him. Look at how much energy the left spends to demonize and destroy Beck. They attack his advertisers, criticize his push to buy gold (though he certainly looks smart right now) and even slander him with offensive websites making offensive claims about non-existent crimes.

In short, he drives them nuts. By any measure, that’s a success of monumental proportions.
