Conservatives harp on this but are very selective in their targets. As
Atrios points out about some banksters:
The thing is, while this stuff was institution-wide, it isn't the institutions that are to blame. It's individuals who are. Having shareholders and investors pay to bail them out isn't exactly much of a punishment.
The fuss over providing contraception coverage is really just another example of the Abrahamic religions dislike of women and should be treated as nothing more than that. (h/t
Atrios)
Pandagon makes the relevant point:
Catholic hospitals and universities are public institutions that serve the public and hire from the public, unlike private religious institutions. As such, they are being held to the same standard as all other public institituions in that they aren't allowed to deny their female employees the right to full health care coverage, no matter how much the Pope is mad that you're fucking and he's not

"As we’ve said before, this settlement is yet another raw demonstration of who wields power in America, and it isn’t you and me. It’s bad enough to see these negotiations come to their predictable, sorry outcome. It adds insult to injury to see some try to depict it as a win for long suffering, still abused homeowners. "
Nor has the Obama Administration held the banksters accountable.
