CORRECTION: Cruz got 34% of the vote, not 30%
According to radio gasbags and others, Texas is close to the conservatives' idea of a state utopia. They also claim or imply that most of the people of Texas are true conservatives. The recent GOP primary tells a different story: despite having the backing of FreedomWorks, Sarah Palin, Club for Growth, Mark Levin and the Tea Party Express, Ted Cruz only garnered 30% of the vote compared to 48% for Lt. Gov. Dewhurst.
