I NOW DISLIKE THIS PHRASE

After years of hearing or reading about "boots on the ground," I've come to think of this as an insidious phrase that removes our thoughts from the reality of having people in a war situation.  THIS is a major part of that reality:

For the US to really have chance to consummate its goals in the Middle East, it would have to put a multitude of boots on the ground. I'm talking military draft-
necessitating multitude.

Reinstitution of a draft of course would split open US society worse than in the Vietnam War period.

I read that the Pentagon estimated it would need 75,000 troops but I think that's far less than what really is needed.
