IT'S TIME

Bernie Sanders has made a terrific run for the Dem nomination & now that he has no chance to get enough delegates, it's time for him to bow out gracefully. Let's never forget that he single-handedly made liberal economic reform respectable.

"Sanders may be as good as a Democrat gets (aside from Barbara Lee), but how good is that? And what will it get you? Single payer health care? Nationalization of the banks?"

"Ultimately, Bernie Sanders is a loyalist to liberalism. That’s why he voted for Bill Clinton’s racist Crime Bill. It’s why he voted twice to overthrow Saddam Hussein during Clinton time and endorsed a cruel sanctions regime that killed more than 400,000 innocent Iraqi kids. It’s why he backed the Clinton war on Serbia, voted for the AUMF that has been used to justify total and enduring war since 9/11, backed the Libyan intervention and, most crucially, pledged to support Hillary if she is eventually the nominee, which she was pre-ordained to become. After New York, Hillary’s triumph is a mathematical certainty. She will have won the most votes (that were actually counted), the most states, the most pledged delegates and the most super delegates. Fini."

Is there a foreign policy campaign promise Obama actually kept? A war he actually won?
(Afghanistan experts say Taliban strongest since 2001.)

OTOH, Clinton's promises won't even be appealing.

That’s why he voted for Bill Clinton’s racist Crime Bill. I don't think is was racist.

Well, hasn't Hillary conceded as much in its effects? Opportunistically of course and belatedly.
Of course if a Euro-American community wishes to view another hypothetical crime bill as racist because it is too lenient, I would certainly respect its right to designate it as such as well.

Have you declared a moratorium on blogging until Sanders surrenders on your/her terms? Doesn't look like it's happening.

Strata has taken to blogging again, perhaps seizing on your (Tucson pols related?) sabbatical.

So I couldn't resist mailing him.

"going to admit you were completely wrong on Taliban defeat in 2009? Of course not."

"Nearly all internal road communication lines in Afghanistan are now broken or under control of the Taliban:

Taliban insurgents have cut the main highway that links the capital with northern Afghanistan and neighboring countries for the past three days, according to Afghan officials in the area.
...
The northern city of Mazar-i-Sharif was cut off, as were road connections to eight northern provinces.
...
Earlier this month, insurgents launched heavy attacks on security check posts along the Ring Road between Greshk and Lashkar Gah, in Helmand Province, overrunning three police positions and killing 15 police officers, and taking six officers prisoner. That again cut the strategic stretch linking Kandahar, the biggest southern city, with Lashkar Gah, the capital of Helmand Province. For months, the stretch of Ring Road linking Kandahar and Kabul has been subject to regular Taliban ambushes and so-called flying check posts, making travel dangerous except under heavy guard, for most of the distance. Only the short stretch between Kabul and Wardak Province is passable regularly.
The highway has also been shut down by insurgent ambushes in northern Jowzjan and Faryab Provinces, in western Farah Province and along stretches in Kunduz and Oruzgan Provinces, according to local officials and the police in those areas.
Recently, even the main highway from Kabul to the Torkhum border crossing with Pakistan has been occasionally shut down by Taliban ambushes."

I was going to construct a scolding contrast between anti-Elite Sanders' purported bad manners vis a vis gender egalitarian triumph and Elitist Clinton's generosity to racial egalitarian triumph --then I realized Obama's triumph included immediate neutering his "insurgent" sheep into the DNC and that Elitist Clinton was quite aware this would happen, so it all became quite anti-climactic.
