RADIO TIDBITS

The Tony Snow Show:

Tony claimed that the break-up of the plot to ram a plane into the Library Tower was foiled because of domestic NSA spying. However, this AP article refutes that:

Bush offered more details to highlight international cooperation in fighting terrorists. He did not say whether information about the West Coast plot was collected by his administration's program to monitor - without court warrants - some calls and e-mails between people overseas and in the U.S. when links to terrorism are suspected.

The White House said that issue was not the point of the speech, but the president and his advisers have been vigorously defending the legality of the program, which has been questioned by both Democratic and Republican lawmakers.

Tony Snow then told a caller that there was no torture and that's also a lie:

A woman from Gaithersburg, Maryland, called and blamed 9-11 solely on Clinton and although Tony didn't agree with her reasoning, he did claim that Clinton didn't take the threat seriously. In fact, it was the Bush regime that didn't take the threat seriously:

"The new administration seems to be paying no attention to the problem of terrorism. ''What they will do is stagger along until there's a major incident and then suddenly say, 'Oh my God, shouldn't we be organized to deal with this,''' Bremer said at a McCormick Tribune Foundation conference on terrorism on Feb. 26, 2001.
