WINGNUT HYPOCRISY

This isn't news but I got a chuckle from Rusty Humphries criticizing Al Gore for "playing on our fears" about global warming. As if Rusty hasn't done that enough by grossly inflating the terrorist threat to America and by parroting the criminal Bush regime's lies about WMD in Iraq.

Rusty went a step further and used the Magna Carta as a starting point for an attack on the jihadists. He neglected to mention that the Bush regime, through the use of "enemy combatant" status, eliminates habeas corpus, a right acknowledged in the Magna Carta. These passages give a sense of the rights granted by the "Great Charter":

  • In future no official shall place a man on trial upon his own unsupported statement, without producing credible witnesses to the truth of it.
  • No free man shall be seized or imprisoned, or stripped of his rights or possessions, or outlawed or exiled, or deprived of his standing in any other way, nor will we proceed with force against him, or send others to do so, except by the lawful judgement of his equals or by the law of the land.
  • To no one will we sell, to no one deny or delay right or justice.
