WILL THEY ATTACK PRES. FREDO?

(h/t Atrios)
The radio wingnuts like Hannity and several major press outlets have attacked Obama for "wanting to invade an ally" because Obama said he would authorize a strike in Pakistan if we had actionable intelligence:
Tough talk on Pakistan from Obama

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Barack Obama said on Wednesday the United States must be willing to strike al Qaeda targets inside Pakistan, adopting a tough tone after a chief rival accused him of naivete in foreign policy.

Obama said if elected in November 2008 he would be willing to attack inside Pakistan with or without approval from the Pakistani government, a move that would likely cause anxiety in the already troubled region.

"If we have actionable intelligence about high-value terrorist targets and President Musharraf won't act, we will," Obama said.

There have been several U.S. strikes inside Pakistan and some like this one have alienated both the government and the citizens of Pakistan. More recently, we've sent soldiers INTO Pakistan and that has the Pakistanis even more upset:
Pakistan’s Military Chief Criticizes U.S. Over a Raid

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan — In an unusually strong statement criticizing the United States for sending commandos into Pakistan to fight the Taliban and Al Qaeda, the chief of the Pakistani Army said Wednesday that his forces would not tolerate such incursions and would defend the country’s sovereignty “at all costs.”

There was widespread criticism in the Pakistani press on Wednesday of Mr. Zardari’s performance at his first presidential news conference, during which he refused to condemn the raid by American Special Operations forces into Pakistan’s tribal areas on Sept. 3.

That raid involved commandos, based in Afghanistan, attacking a compound in South Waziristan where Taliban and Qaeda forces were believed to be.

Matt Yglesias points to this NY Times article that claims Pres. Fredo authorized incursions into Pakistani territory:
Bush Said to Give Orders Allowing Raids in Pakistan

WASHINGTON — President Bush secretly approved orders in July that for the first time allow American Special Operations forces to carry out ground assaults inside Pakistan without the prior approval of the Pakistani government, according to senior American officials.

American officials say that they will notify Pakistan when they conduct limited ground attacks like the Special Operations raid last Wednesday in a Pakistani village near the Afghanistan border, but that they will not ask for its permission.

Because McCain criticized Obama, Matt asks is McCain will also criticize Pres. Fredo. I think we know the answer but it would be great if a reporter asked McCain.
