ANOTHER GOP HALF-WIT

Rep. Paul Broun, R-GA, not only hasn't read any of the debates about the Constitution, he hasn't even read Russell Kirk, the great conservative writer, on the relation between Church and State. Broun comes out with a by-now standard Fundie lie:
Broun: Well, it's all about freedom, actually. The Bible was the basis of our laws, it was the basis of the Constitution of the United States, the Declaration of Independence -- the Bible was the founding source. ... Every single one of our laws are based on the Biblical precepts.

Michael Lind debunks this claim and more important, so does Kirk in The Roots of American Order. Kirk notes that Christianity is universal and can flourish in almost any political environment that isn't openly hostile.
