John McCain knows that many conservative activists basically want him to go away, like Michelle Malkin, "With all due respect to McCain’s past noble war service, it’s time to head to the pasture." Brian Faughnan at Red State informs his readers that J.D. Haywoth, who is now officially running against McCain in the primary, is a much better conservative:

In his 12 years in Congress, Hayworth compiled a lifetime rating of 98% from the ACU. The comparable rating for John McCain is 81%.

I remember Hayworth as another mellifluous gasbag who Sean Hannity liked to have on his radio show, so I'm no fan of JD but I would also love to see McWar go away and there is a chance that Hayworth might lose the general election.
