NOW FOR THE SIMILARITIES
I noted below that there are significant differences between the democratic Weimar period in Germany (roughly 1918-32) and the current state of America so it's only reasonable to point out some of the similarities. Like America, Weimar also had politically reactionary religious factions, including the Catholic Church. Like America, Weimar had large groups of people, not all of them religious, who believed that the Big City Life wasn't authentic and may even he harmful to the country.

You do realize that believing city life isn't authentic is not necessarily reactionary? Of course if you wish to consider left wing populism reactionary, so be it.
